Sutartronica Embarks on First Sicily Tour

This September, Sutartronica heads to Sicily for the first time, combining a series of live performances with an artistic residency, local collaborations and workshops introducing Lithuanian sutartinės to Sicilian audiences.

The tour begins on September 26 in Catania at Ursino Buskers, the city's international street arts festival. Taking place across Catania's historic centre from September 24–27, the festival brings together music, theatre, circus and street performance, with Sutartronica joining the Saturday night programme at Piazza dei Libri.

The following day, September 27, Sutartronica travels to Testa dell'Acqua, in the hills outside Noto, to perform at Merkatu, a community event bringing together local producers, crafts, culture and live music.

The Sicilian journey will also include an artistic residency at Meraki Testa Dell'Acqua, a non-profit cultural association dedicated to artistic residencies, multidisciplinary collaboration and cultural exchange. During the residency, Sutartronica will work with local musicians and traditional instruments, exploring new connections between Lithuanian and Sicilian musical traditions and creating new material together.

As part of the residency, Laurita Peleniūtė will also lead sutartinės workshops for the local community, introducing participants to Lithuania's unique tradition of polyphonic singing and giving them an opportunity to experience the tradition through singing.

On October 1, the tour continues in Modica, with a Sutartronica DJ set at Hemingway.

One of the highlights of the trip follows on October 2, when Sutartronica performs at Codex Noto Festival inside the historic Teatro Tina Di Lorenzo in Noto. The festival presents theatre, music, performance and discussion throughout September and early October, and describes the Sutartronica concert as a meeting of contemporary electronics and Lithuanian polyphony.

The tour concludes on October 3 in Palermo at I Candelai, one of the city's established live-music venues. Active since 1996, I Candelai has hosted generations of Italian and international artists and will welcome Sutartronica to Palermo for the first time.

Lithuanian Sutartinės Reach France: Sutartronica and Super Parquet Debut Their Collaboration at Le Printemps de Bourges

Lithuanian band Sutartronica’s visit to France has developed into a successful international collaboration. During a residency in Clermont-Ferrand, the group joined forces with French neo-trad collective Super Parquet to create a unique new live programme, which premiered at the renowned Le Printemps de Bourges festival.

From April 11–14, Sutartronica took part in an artistic residency at La Coopérative de Mai in Clermont-Ferrand. There, they worked intensively with Super Parquet, one of France’s most distinctive neo-trad groups, known for combining the traditional music of the Auvergne region with psychedelic and electronic sounds.

Over four days, the musicians created a new programme of more than 20 minutes, bringing together Lithuanian sutartinės and French traditional music in a contemporary electronic setting. The collaboration included new interpretations of the Lithuanian sutartinės “Svirti sviro” and “Karčiausko girnos”, as well as Super Parquet’s “Norska.”

“From our very first meeting, I felt that working together was absolutely the right decision and that these two musical worlds fit together naturally. The programme came together surprisingly easily, almost as if we had already met and played together many times before,” says Sutartronica founder and producer Victor Diawara.

The residency culminated in a performance on April 16 at the Bal des Rives stage of Le Printemps de Bourges. The joint project, named SUPER|TRONICA, attracted an enthusiastic audience. During the performance, the venue filled with listeners, with members of the audience spontaneously forming traditional French circle dances to the sound of Lithuanian polyphonic singing.

Sutartronica singer Laurita Peleniūtė highlighted the openness of the French musicians and their genuine respect for Lithuanian musical traditions. For the artists, the performance exceeded expectations, demonstrating how naturally Lithuanian sutartinės and the traditional music of Auvergne could coexist within a new contemporary sound.

The trip to France was not limited to the residency and festival performance. The musicians also filmed special live sessions against the landscape of the UNESCO-listed Chaîne des Puys – Limagne fault tectonic arena, including the Puy de Dôme area. A short documentary capturing the creative process and the story behind the collaboration is also currently in production.

The Le Printemps de Bourges premiere is only the beginning of the SUPER|TRONICA collaboration. At the end of June, the project will perform at Europavox Festival, with the concert to be filmed for ARTE Concert. A five-date tour of France is planned for the autumn, while the partnership is expected to continue into 2027–2028 as part of activities connected to Bourges – European Capital of Culture 2028.

The project “Sutartronica: Promotion of Lithuanian Musical Heritage in France 2026” is partially funded by the Vilnius City Municipality and the French Ministry of Culture. Plans are also underway to present the collaborative programme to audiences in Lithuania.

Balkan Beats and Ancestral Roots: Sutartronica at PIN Conference in Skopje

Sutartronica wrapped up their autumn showcase marathon at the PIN Showcase & Conference in Skopje, North Macedonia—the largest music industry event in the Balkans region, labeled by many as one of Europe's most fun and "rock and roll" showcase festivals.

The event provided a dynamic environment for the group to perform, network, and engage in discussions focused on regional markets and artist mobility. The atmosphere lived up to its reputation, and the performance generated immediate interest, resulting in offers for festivals in Croatia, Sweden, Germany, and other European countries for the 2026 season.

The trip held a particularly personal significance for group founder Victor Diawara: legend has it that his ancestors on his father’s side originated in Macedonia as warriors of Alexander the Great. This trip, therefore, was a return to ancestral roots, adding a layer of depth and discovery to the professional success.

The enthusiastic reception in Skopje underscored appeal of Sutartronica's sound and provided new contacts and opportunities for the project's future development, which now shifts focus to the release of a new album.

North American Breakthrough: Sutartronica Wins Award at Mundial Montreal

November saw Sutartronica crossing the Atlantic for the first time, delivering a four-concert tour across Canada, culminating in a significant breakthrough at Mundial Montreal.

Mundial Montreal is one of North America's most influential world music events, serving as a critical meeting point for creators seeking international markets and new audiences. The event provides a vital entry point into the North American music scene, a rare and sought-after opportunity for Lithuanian artists.

The highlight of the journey was the official showcase performance, which earned Sutartronica the coveted "Sounds Good" Award. The experience was enhanced by the warm welcome from local communities, including a unique collaborative gig with the Lemon Bucket Orkestra at the Lithuanian House in Toronto, uniting the Lithuanian and Ukrainian diasporas. Other memorable performances took place at the London Brewery in London, Ontario, and Drom Taberna in Toronto.

This tour was instrumental in boosting the group's international visibility and establishing new North American partnerships, proving that the unique fusion of traditional Lithuanian vocals and modern electronics resonates strongly across continents.

Sutartronica Debuts at WOMEX in Finland

After years of dedicated effort, "Sutartronica" which merges ancient Lithuanian sutartinės with electronic music—achieved a major milestone: a debut performance at the Worldwide Music Expo (WOMEX) in Tampere, Finland.

WOMEX is widely recognized as the most significant networking platform for the global music industry, gathering professionals from over 100 countries annually. To be selected for an official showcase on the prestigious Northern Connections stage is a statement of an artist's international relevance and quality.

For Sutartronica, this moment was crucial for strengthening Lithuania's cultural visibility on a global scale and presenting the UNESCO-protected tradition of sutartinės to new audiences. The experience went beyond the live show; the team engaged in networking events and discussions including artistic freedom and AI in music management.

"Such performances at pivotal industry events strengthen the country's cultural visibility, introduce the UNESCO-protected tradition of sutartinės, and expand international partnerships," says group founder Victor Diawara.

The participation marks a new chapter for the project, setting the stage for future collaborations and solidifying their place in the world music landscape.
